God With Us

Immanuel, "God with us."
God, ubiquitous,
Holy and omnipotent,
Came to earth unceremonious,
Inconspicuous, a baby in a manger.
Who is this hero, this Savior?
This weakling is our Ebenezer.
God with us.

What does that mean,
The King of kings,
Living among the least of us.
The Holy with the unrighteous,
Faithful with the adulterous.
Perfection with our atrociousness.
God with us.

God becoming man
Is like the earth becoming a grain of sand.
It's the Potter becoming the clay,
The Lion becoming the prey.

God becoming man
Is like the tapestry becoming a thread,
It's Creator becoming the Created.
It's the universe becoming an atom.
Our second Adam is,
God with us.

Everything we need,
Wrapped in swaddling clothes.
Born to relate with us,
Born to walk with us,
Born to die for us,
God, born unto us.
God, with us.

For unto you a child is born,
Unto you a son is given.
The Savior, Christ the Lord.
