Of Oak Trees

I finally settle down to write again. More like plop down on my bed late at night trying to get my thoughts out of my brain. To the few of you out there who read my blog- if there is one piece of advice that I can give you that I'm sure works (meaning I am terrible at following it ;) ) - carry some kind of notebook with you and write down those random thoughts that pop up during the day. It's hard to remember them when you actually want to write. I guess you could also use a phone... but where is the fun in that? There is something simply marvelous about a note book and pen that makes my heart happy. The smell of paper, the feeling of a pen between your fingers... ah! Sometimes I sit down at my desk and doodle just because I love the feel of it. Better yet, grab your favorite music, find an open field (preferably a wheat field) with a lovely grand oak tree on a sunny day and sit beneath its branches with your notebook friend. Also, carry a guitar. Who cares if you know how to play it? It automatically sparks creativity. Then after you're done writing, stand up, stretch out your arms to the open sky and worship God with all your heart. Maybe take a run through the field with your hair down if you have enough to let down. Revel in His beauty. Feel His presence. Perfection. I don't know where that paragraph came from. It's not what I planned to write about, and it's certainly short and had no purpose. But it's what came out, so there you have it. Go out and do something whimsical today :)
