She wakes up, and looks at her reflection
Her mind thinks "Look at all my imperfections!"
Man, she thinks that's she's so so ugly
"I look like a guy that's out playing rugby."
Yeah, it sounds silly, but that's her mindset,
That she's not beautiful without a makeup set.
So after a shower, out comes the the eye-liner,
And mascara, and lip gloss, and blush and powder.
"Now I'm ready to face the world!..
I only wish my body was like that other girl's."
Out the door she walks, shoulder's back, chin up.
No one would ever know her self-esteem's messed up.
And without a doubt, out of the corner of her eye,
She's constantly looking for any "nice" guy.
Hoping she'll get stared at, get some impressed looks.
"That will make me feel beautiful, knowing he's hooked."
As she walks by, always looking perfect,
All the guys stare, saying "Man! she can work it."
Nothing seemed to make her happier that day,
Knowing those "nice guys" liked her in that way.
Forget about the inside, she didn't worry about that.
It was first impressions that mattered! What "nice guys" go deeper than that?
Yet even at the end of a "successful" day
She always felt empty and her high feelings never stayed.
"I looked pretty, I felt hot.
Not to mention what those guys thought!"
If only she knew that no one's love, opinion, or wealth
Would fill the gap of the love she needed to have for herself.
Before you're able to love someone else,
You need to learn to love yourself.
Loving who you are can sometimes be hard,
But it's a big part of guarding you heart.
Jesus is ready to make you whole, and take you in.
Teach you to learn to find acceptance in Him.
There's no one better that can love you, truth be told.
And your heart will be safe, and you'll be made whole.
So stop looking for "acceptance" in some lustful eye
Lust isn't permanent, isn't love, and true love doesn't die.
